At The Place, 0 Sugar Added means that no cane sugar is added to the cake. It is the same real dairy fresh cream as our other cakes, sweetened without cane sugar, and you can see exactly what goes in on each cake's ingredients, listed on our ingredients page.
The phrase describes the recipe. It tells you what was added, and it leaves the rest of the cake as you would expect: a sponge, a cream, a design and a size. The Cake lines menu on our website lists 0 Sugar Added and Keto · Flourless as their own lines, so you can browse them directly. There are two lines on our menu, Lightly Sweet and 0 Sugar Added. They are both fresh cream cakes, and the 0 Sugar Added line is simply the one without added cane sugar.

Almost everything stays the same, and the change is in how the cake is sweetened. The table compares the two lines side by side.

Prices are pre-order prices at the time of writing, and your cart shows the final price. Serving counts are the same too: a 6-inch serves 6 to 8, an 8-inch serves 12 to 14 and a 10-inch serves 18 to 22 normal dessert slices, as a guide. Does 0 Sugar Added also rule out the sugars in dairy and fruit?
No. 0 Sugar Added is a statement about what is added, and it does not mean that every ingredient is free of natural sugar. Dairy and fruit carry sugars of their own, and one of our product pages notes that seasonal berry toppings "may contain fructose sugar".
It also does not mean unsweetened. A 0 Sugar Added cake is sweetened, only without cane sugar. Is 0 Sugar Added the same as Keto?
No. Keto is a version inside the 0 Sugar Added line, and it goes one step further: Keto · Flourless is made without flour and without cane sugar, using ingredients such as cream cheese, eggs and coconut oil. The 0 Sugar Added version keeps the flour.
So every Keto cake is a 0 Sugar Added cake, and not every 0 Sugar Added cake is Keto. At the time of writing, our website lists 33 cakes in the 0 Sugar Added line, and 31 are available as a flourless Keto cake. The explanation of the flourless version is in what is a keto cake.

The Tiramisu Bloom cake is only made in the 0 Sugar Added version, in a bright red-and-blue, garden-inspired design. The Milk Tea Cloud cake can be ordered in either 0 Sugar Added or Keto, in warm beige tones. If you need something smaller, the 2.75-inch mini cakes cost about $17 to $24 each.
What are the limits of a 0 Sugar Added cake?
Three limits are worth knowing before you order.
- Eggless: the eggless option cannot be combined with 0 Sugar Added or Keto, because the eggless recipe is made with sugar and flour. 0 Sugar Added cakes contain egg, and our kitchen handles egg every day.
- Allergens: 0 Sugar Added is about sugar only. Both 0 Sugar Added and Keto cakes contain dairy and egg, and the 0 Sugar Added sponge is made with wheat flour, which Keto leaves out. Our kitchen handles dairy, egg, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts every day, so we cannot guarantee that any cake is free of any allergen. Tell us in the cart note and confirm by phone or email.
- Timing: pre-orders start the day after tomorrow and run up to 180 days ahead. Same-day and next-day orders are only possible for cakes with Express in the name, and Sunday does not take same-day orders. Delivery fees and time windows are a guide, and your cart shows the final fee.
A last note on care: the cream is the same in every version, so refrigerate the cake in its box within an hour of arrival, do not freeze it, and serve it straight from the fridge. When you are ready to choose, the 0 Sugar Added collection shows every design.

Is 0 Sugar Added the same as unsweetened?

Does a 0 Sugar Added cake contain flour?
Yes, unless you choose Keto. The 0 Sugar Added version keeps the Japanese chiffon sponge, which contains flour. Keto is the flourless version inside the same line, with no flour of any kind, wheat or almond, and ingredients such as cream cheese, eggs and coconut oil.
Can a 0 Sugar Added cake be eggless?
No. The eggless option is available on many Lightly Sweet cakes for +$5. It covers the cake and cream of the main cake only, and it cannot be combined with 0 Sugar Added or Keto because the eggless recipe is made with sugar and flour. 0 Sugar Added cakes contain egg, and our kitchen handles egg every day.
Do I need to order a 0 Sugar Added cake in advance?
Usually, yes. Pre-orders start the day after tomorrow and run up to 180 days ahead. Cakes with Express in the name can be made same-day or next-day; same-day orders close at 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday. Sunday does not take same-day orders.
How should I store a 0 Sugar Added cake?
The same way as any other cake: refrigerate it in its box within an hour of arrival, do not freeze it, and serve it straight from the fridge. Keep it at room temperature for no more than two hours in total, or one hour on a hot day.
