What does "eggless" mean at The Place?

Eggless at The Place means the sponge and the cream of your main cake are made without egg. It is an option you tick on the cake's page, labelled Make it eggless, and the product page describes it as baked without egg and freshly prepared to order.

That wording is deliberate, and it is worth reading closely. The option applies to the cake and cream of your main cake only. The decorations, any cupcakes and any add-ons are made as usual and may still contain egg.

It also helps to know where the cake is made. The Place bakes in one shared kitchen in Markham, where milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts are handled every day. So "baked without egg" is as far as the description goes. It is not a promise that egg has never been near the cake.

How do I order an eggless cake, and what does it cost?

You tick Make it eggless under Extras on the cake's page, it adds $5 per cake, and you choose a date at least two days ahead. There is nothing to type and no form to send.

The steps, in order:

1. Open a cake that offers the option. The Extras section sits below the size choice.
2. Tick Make it eggless. The $5 appears as its own line in your cart.
3. Choose delivery or pickup, then pick a date at least two days out.
4. If anyone at the table has an allergy, write it in the cart note and confirm with us by phone or email before you order.

Two days is the minimum because eggless cakes are freshly prepared to order, and only the cakes with Express in the name can be made same-day or next-day. Pre-orders can be booked from the day after tomorrow and up to 180 days ahead, and the date picker in your cart shows which dates are open. Each day has limited capacity, and popular dates do fill.

Delivery works the same as for any other cake. Core GTA delivery is $4.95 on orders from $30 to $85, free once the order passes $85, and $10.99 under $30, all before tax. Pickup at 505 Hood Rd, Unit 10, Markham is free. That is a guide; your cart and checkout show the final fee.

Looking after the cake once it arrives

An eggless cake is cared for like any other fresh cream cake. Put it in the fridge, in its box, within an hour of it reaching you, and do not freeze it, because freezing hurts the texture. Serve it straight from the fridge; it does not need to come up to room temperature. Keep it out of the fridge for no more than 2 hours in total, and 1 hour in hot weather. It is best eaten the day it arrives, and any leftovers can go back in the fridge overnight.

If you are collecting it yourself, set the box flat on the floor of the car or in the trunk, never on a seat or your lap.

What stays the same, and what can still contain egg?

Only the main cake's sponge and cream change; almost everything else about ordering is the same. The table sets it out.

Candles, picks, wires, ribbon and fresh flowers are best removed before cutting, and small pieces are best kept away from young children. That applies to every cake, eggless or not.

Which cakes can be made eggless?

Most Lightly Sweet fresh cream cakes offer the option, and the eggless collection lists each one. A few do not, for example Party Buddy and Crème Brûlée Secret, and no 0 Sugar Added or Keto cake does.

Two are easy places to start. Royal Milk Tea is described as having dramatic drips and golden accents on warm café tones, and it is one of the lower-priced designs here. Birthday Buddy is a rounded character cake with a happy face and a striped candle.

Can an eggless cake also be 0 Sugar Added or Keto?

No. The eggless recipe is made with sugar and flour, so it is offered on the Lightly Sweet version of a cake only, and the tick box does not appear on 0 Sugar Added or Keto (flourless) versions.

This is a real trade-off, and there is no workaround within the same cake. You choose one direction. Lightly Sweet cakes can be made eggless. 0 Sugar Added cakes use the same fresh cream without cane sugar, and Keto · Flourless cakes leave out flour, and both of those keep their own recipes. Does an eggless cake taste different?

It is the same design, the same sizes and the same real dairy fresh cream, with the layers baked without egg. Please do not treat the eggless option as an allergy safeguard. The Place does not guarantee that any cake is without any allergen. The kitchen handles egg every day, and decorations and add-ons may contain it.
