Allergy & ingredient information.
Every cake we make comes out of one shared kitchen — handcrafted, and never allergen-free. This page explains exactly what that means, so you can decide with confidence before you order.
The Place is not an allergen-free facility.
All of our cakes and desserts are prepared, decorated and packed in a single shared kitchen where milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts are handled every day. We follow careful handling practices, but cross-contact is always possible. We cannot guarantee that any product is free of any allergen.

What our kitchen handles.
The allergens below are part of our everyday baking. If it is on this list, assume any product may contain it — or may have touched it.
Milk & dairy
Fresh whipped cream and butter are the heart of our cakes — assume dairy in every product we sell.
Eggs
Our chiffon sponges, buttercream and house-made macarons may all be made with egg. We are not an egg-free facility.
Wheat & gluten
We may use wheat throughout — from cake flour in our sponges to toppings such as pretzels and Pocky®.
Soy
May be present in chocolate and in many brand-name decorations and toppings we use.
Peanuts
Brand-name candy toppings (for example M&M’S®) contain or may contain peanuts. We are not a nut-free facility.
Tree nuts
We may use hazelnut (Ferrero® Rocher), almond (macarons) and other nut toppings — all handled in the same space as everything else.
Sesame
Not a recipe staple, but present in some supplier-sourced products — traces cannot be ruled out.
Other priority allergens
Sulphites, mustard, fish and other seafood are not typical ingredients in our recipes, yet supplier-sourced items may carry them — traces cannot be ruled out.

No small type, just plain words
The fine print, spelled out.
- “0 Sugar Added” is only about sugar. Those cakes still contain milk, eggs and wheat unless the product page says otherwise — and they are made in the same shared kitchen as everything else.
- We make no free-from claims. We do not offer gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, egg-free or allergen-free products, and we never claim to.
- Leaving an ingredient off is not the same as taking it out of the kitchen. On request we can omit certain toppings or decorations; this reduces an ingredient, it does not remove the possibility of cross-contact.
- Recipes and suppliers can change without notice. The ingredient overview on each product page (under “See ingredients”) is a general reference, not a complete or binding list. For exact details, contact us before ordering.
- Gelatin, yes — alcohol, no. Our fresh cream and some decorations (marshmallows, for example) may contain gelatin. Our cakes are prepared without alcohol. If you avoid gelatin, or follow halal or other dietary practices, please confirm with us before ordering.
- Brand-name toppings carry their own allergen profiles. Ferrero® Rocher, M&M’S®, Pocky®, fondant, molding chocolate and similar items come with their manufacturers’ ingredient and “may contain” declarations.
- Custom work shares the same space. Custom designs, printed images and fondant decorations are produced with the same tools, on the same benches, as every other order.
Before you cut the cake
Not everything on a cake is food.
- Decoration is decoration. Toppers, picks, wires, ribbons, candles, figurines and fresh flowers are for display only and are not edible.
- Remove all non-edible items before cutting and serving.
- Keep small decorative parts away from young children.
- Fresh flowers, when used, are not food-safe and should never be eaten.
House rules
Ordering with an allergy.
Seven simple rules. They exist so that everyone at the table knows exactly what they are enjoying.
- Leave a note in your cart first — this is the way we recommend. On the cart page you’ll find an order note box. Put your allergy details there before you check out, so they travel with your order.
- Then confirm by phone once you have your order number. After placing your order, call us at +1 (888) 356-9099 with your order number so we can confirm your note together. Prefer to talk it through first? Calling us before you order works too — we simply recommend the cart note comes first.
- Check the ingredients. Every product page lists a general ingredient overview under “See ingredients”. For exact, up-to-date details on a specific cake, contact us before ordering.
- Ask anything — but ask before you order. Once a cake goes into production we cannot re-verify or change what has already been made.
- Assume shared equipment, always. A request to leave off an ingredient never makes a cake allergen-free.
- If an allergen must be strictly avoided, our products may not be the right fit. The decision to order — and to serve — is always yours, and we’re happy to help you make it.
- Pass it on. If the cake is for a party, an event or a gift, the purchaser is responsible for sharing this information with everyone who will eat it, including delivery recipients.
The agreement
What you agree to when you order.
By placing an order with The Place, you acknowledge and agree that:
- all products are prepared, decorated and packed in a shared kitchen and may contain — or may have come into contact with — any of the allergens listed on this page;
- The Place makes no allergen-free, gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free or egg-free guarantee of any kind;
- ingredient information is provided in good faith as a general reference and may change without notice;
- it is your responsibility to disclose any allergy before ordering, and to pass this information on to anyone who will consume the product;
- non-edible decorations must be removed before serving, and small decorative parts must be kept away from young children;
- to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Place accepts no liability for issues arising from allergens, cross-contact or non-edible decorations where the information on this page has been made available to you.
