Real cream

Real dairy cream vs whipped topping: how to tell.

Not every white swirl is cream. We finish every cake with 100% animal dairy fresh cream, whipped fresh in small batches. We don’t use plant-based whipped topping or shortening frosting. Here is how you can tell the difference on any cake.

Creamie comparing a soft ivory swirl of real cream with a stiff, bright white swirl

Look at the colour and the edges.

Real dairy cream is a soft ivory and pipes with soft, rounded edges. Snow-white frosting with razor-sharp, stiff edges is usually made with vegetable fat or shortening.

Creamie putting a cake box into a little fridge

Real cream needs the fridge.

It softens within hours at room temperature. Frosting that stays firm on the counter for days isn’t fresh cream.

Creamie reading the ingredient list on the back of a cream carton

Read the label.

Hydrogenated vegetable oil, palm kernel oil or shortening near the top of the list means it isn’t dairy cream.

Made fresh, so it doesn’t need to last.

  • Made the same day. Every cake is made on the day it goes out.
  • No preservatives added. We don’t add preservatives when we make our cakes.
  • No shiny glaze. Fresh fruit goes on as it is.
  • Best within 2 days. Keep your cake refrigerated and enjoy it within 2 days.

Two things before you order.

Toppings change with the design.

Not every cake has decorations, and they vary from design to design. Brand-name toppings like chocolates, candies and fondant come with their makers’ own ingredients.

Questions

Ingredients, answered.

Is your whipped cream real dairy?

Yes. Every cake is finished with 100% animal dairy fresh cream, whipped fresh in small batches. We don’t use plant-based whipped topping or shortening frosting.

How can I tell real whipped cream from whipped topping?

Real cream is a soft ivory, pipes with soft, rounded edges and softens within hours at room temperature. Snow-white frosting with very sharp, stiff edges is usually made with vegetable fat or shortening.

Do you add preservatives?

No. We don’t add preservatives when we make our cakes, and every cake is made on the day it goes out.

How should I store my cake?

Keep it refrigerated and enjoy it within 2 days. Take it out shortly before serving.

What’s the difference between 0 Sugar Added and Keto?

0 Sugar Added keeps our chiffon sponge and adds no cane sugar. Keto has no flour of any kind: it is built on a cream cheese base, also with no cane sugar added.

Do your cakes contain gelatin?

Some cream fillings and some decorations, such as marshmallows, may contain gelatin. If you avoid gelatin, please ask us before you order.

Is there alcohol in your cakes?

No. Our cakes are prepared without alcohol.
