Which kids' character cakes can be made eggless?

Most of the character cakes on the menu offer the eggless option, including dinosaur, bear, cat, pig, lamb, monster and unicorn designs. The list below comes from the menu at the time of writing, with from-prices before the $5 eggless option.

*An Express version is a separate same-day cake made with the standard recipe, so it does not carry the eggless option.

A few designs do not offer the tick box, for example Party Buddy. The full set that does is on the eggless cakes collection, and each product page shows the option under Extras.

What does the eggless option change on a character cake?

It changes the cake layers and the cream, and nothing else. On a character cake that matters, because much of the charm sits in the decoration.

The product page puts it plainly: the option applies to the cake and cream of your main cake only, and decorations, cupcakes and add-ons may still contain egg. The figures and toppers that make a character cake recognisable are decorations, so they are made as usual.

That does not stop you using the cake. It just tells you where to look. If your guests include anyone for whom egg is a concern, the safest plan is to treat the cake sponge and the decorations as two separate questions and ask us about both before you order.

Whatever the cake, take candles and any picks, wires, ribbon or flowers off before cutting, and keep small decorative pieces away from toddlers.

How do I order an eggless birthday cake, and how far ahead?

Open the cake, tick Make it eggless under Extras (+$5), then choose a delivery or pickup date at least two days ahead. The cart shows the $5 as its own line.

A few practical points for a party:

• Booking window. Pre-orders open from the day after tomorrow and run up to 180 days ahead. Each day takes a limited number of cakes, so a weekend date is worth booking early.
• One date per order. If you want an Express cake for one day and an eggless cake for another, they go in separate orders.
• Delivery. Core GTA delivery is $4.95 on orders from $30 to $85 and free over $85, before tax. Evening delivery is 5:30 to 10:30 PM, and from the next day on most postal codes can also choose 1:30 to 5:00 PM. Pickup at 505 Hood Rd, Unit 10, Markham is free. These are a guide; your cart and checkout show the final fee and times.
• Size. A 6 inch serves 6 to 8, an 8 inch serves 12 to 14 and a 10 inch serves 18 to 22 normal dessert slices. Those are guides. If you are between sizes, go bigger.

What if the party is tomorrow?

Eggless cakes are not offered same-day or next-day, so you would pick one or the other. Same-day and next-day cakes are the ones with Express in the name, and they use the standard recipe.

If tomorrow is the day, an Express character cake such as Birthday Buddy, Jurassic Joy, The Unicorn or Whimsy Monsters can still be made, with the standard recipe (not eggless). If you need the eggless option, book at least two days ahead, or call +1 (888) 356-9099 with any question. If you have a few days of runway, the eggless route is open.

Can a kids' cake also be 0 Sugar Added or Keto?

Not with the eggless option. The eggless recipe is made with sugar and flour, so the tick box appears on Lightly Sweet versions only and not on 0 Sugar Added or Keto (flourless) versions.

If sweetness is the other thing you are weighing, the choice is between two directions: an eggless Lightly Sweet cake, or a 0 Sugar Added or Keto version without the eggless option. Both are made with real fresh cream.

What if a child has an egg allergy?

Please do not rely on the eggless option for an allergy. The Place makes every cake in one shared kitchen where milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts are handled daily, and it cannot guarantee any cake is without any allergen.
