The Unicorn is a Lightly Sweet fresh cream cake. That means it is made with cane sugar and is less sweet than a typical supermarket cake, with a Japanese chiffon base and real dairy fresh cream outside. You can choose a flavour on the product page, with options such as Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Tiramisu, Coconut Latte, Soya Milk, Mango Oolong, Rose Lychee, Black Sesame, Matcha, Milk Tea, Chocolate, Strawberry and Strawberry Brulee. From $89.95 at 6 inch, $119.95 at 8 inch and $159.95 at 10 inch for a pre-order. The table also covers the mermaid design and one other dreamy option.

What size unicorn cake do I need?

Match the size to your guest count and how thin you will slice. A 6 inch serves 6 to 8 normal dessert slices, an 8 inch serves 12 to 14, and a 10 inch serves 18 to 22.

A coffee slice is less than half of a normal slice. The numbers are a guide, so if you are between sizes, choose the larger one; leftovers keep well in the fridge overnight.

Can I get a unicorn cake the same day?

Yes. The Unicorn has an Express version for same-day, and so does A Dreamland. Order by 2:30 PM Monday to Saturday for delivery that evening between 5:30 and 10:30 PM, or by 4:00 PM for same-day pickup at the kitchen in Markham. Sunday does not take same-day orders, only pre-orders.

Only cakes with Express in the name can be made same-day or next-day, and a same-day cake and a pre-order cake go in separate orders, because one order has one date. The Express collection shows what is open today. Wishing Well has no Express version, so pre-order it.

Pre-orders run from the day after tomorrow up to 180 days ahead and cost less than Express, so book early if you know the date. Each day takes a limited number of orders, and popular dates fill up.

Is there a mermaid cake too?

Can the unicorn cake be eggless?

Yes, The Unicorn and A Dreamland both offer a Make it eggless option for +$5. It covers the main cake and its cream only, so decorations and add-ons may still contain egg. The kitchen handles milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts every day, so eggless means no egg added to the main cake, not zero contact with egg, and no cake can be guaranteed free of any allergen. Eggless cannot be combined with 0 Sugar Added or Keto, because the eggless recipe contains sugar and flour.

How do I carry and serve it?

Keep the box flat on the floor of the car or in the trunk, never on a seat or your lap, and drive gently. Refrigerate it in its box within an hour of arrival, do not freeze it, and serve it straight from the fridge. Keep it at room temperature for no more than 2 hours in total, or 1 hour on a hot day. It is best the same day, and leftovers can go back in the fridge overnight. Take decorations off before cutting and keep small parts away from young children.
