Yes, you can still get a cake today: order an Express cake by 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, for delivery tonight between 5:30 and 10:30 PM, or by 4:00 PM for pickup in Markham. This guide covers what you can still get today, what changes after the cut-off and why Sunday is different. If you only want to order, the same-day cake delivery page for Toronto is the place to start.

Can I still get a cake today in Toronto?

Yes, if you order by 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, and choose a cake with Express in its name. A cake ordered by 2:30 PM is delivered tonight between 5:30 and 10:30 PM across Toronto and the core GTA. If you would rather collect it, order by 4:00 PM for pickup at our Markham kitchen. Your cart confirms the exact cost and same-day availability for your address at checkout. Area details: Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan and North York and Scarborough.

The table puts every option side by side, including the ones that open up after the cut-offs.

What if I missed the 2:30 PM cut-off?

You still have three routes: collect the cake yourself before the 4:00 PM pickup cut-off, book tomorrow, or pre-order a later date. Delivery for tonight closes at 2:30 PM, but pickup stays open until 4:00 PM, so a missed delivery cut-off at 1:45 PM is a very different problem from one at 3:30 PM.

Past 4:00 PM, tomorrow is the next step. The same-day page says you can book the next day right from the same collection, with delivery or pickup, Monday to Saturday. Next-day orders also unlock the afternoon delivery window, 1:30 to 5:00 PM, which is free in most areas and adds $9.95 or $14.95 in some. Your cart shows the figure for your address.

Need something quicker than tonight? Our delivery page lists Uber Eats as the faster option, delivering in about 2 to 3 hours. Call +1 (888) 356-9099 before you rely on it, since the page does not say which cakes qualify.

Can I order a same-day cake on a Sunday?

No. On Sundays we take pre-orders only, with no same-day or rush orders. If you are searching on a Sunday afternoon for a cake that night, that route is closed, and the honest answer is to choose an upcoming date in the cart instead.

Sunday is still a perfectly good day to receive a cake. Core GTA delivery runs every day of the week, and Sunday pickup runs from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. The difference is that the cake has to be booked as a pre-order rather than made that day. If your celebration lands on a Sunday, treat the cut-off as a Saturday problem: decide earlier in the week and book the date outright. The article on how far ahead to order a birthday cake walks through the timing.

Which cakes can be made same-day?

Only cakes with Express at the start of the name can be made same-day or next-day. At the time of writing, 49 cakes carry that name, gathered in two collections, one for Lightly Sweet cakes and one for Keto and 0 Sugar Added cakes. Everything inside those collections qualifies, so you can pick any of them without checking further. The full list lives in the Express cake collection.

Cakes without Express in the name are pre-order only. Many of our menu cakes have an Express version, which is how you can recognise a design you like and still get it quickly. Birthday Buddy, a rounded character with a happy face and a striped candle, has an Express version for same-day. So does 0 Sugar Added Tiramisu Bloom, a relaxed, garden-inspired design with bright red and blue touches. The same-day page shows a rotating sample each day, so what you see there is a guide to the range rather than a fixed menu.

Cake with an Express version Style Pre-order from-price, 6 inch
Birthday Buddy Plush-style character, Lightly Sweet $69.95
Royal Milk Tea Flavour cake, Lightly Sweet $59.95
Maple Pecan Cafe Flavour cake, Lightly Sweet $64.95
Rainbow Confetti Party design, Lightly Sweet $70.95
The Rabbit Character cake, Lightly Sweet $86.95
Chocolate Bear Bliss Character cake, Lightly Sweet $88.95
0 Sugar Added Tiramisu Bloom 0 Sugar Added $68.95
Black Sesame Essence 0 Sugar Added, with a Keto (flourless) version $68.95

The prices in the last column are the pre-order from-prices on the menu, shown only so you can compare designs. Express versions cost more than the pre-order price. On the 6 inch cakes it is about $5 more: Tiramisu Nouveau is from $62.95 booked ahead and from $67.95 as Express. Your cart shows the final figure.

If you or a guest has an allergy, or you want a cake made eggless, call us before ordering rather than assuming. We share one kitchen that handles milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts every day, and a cart note alone is not a confirmation.

Can I combine a same-day cake with a pre-ordered one?

Not in one order. One order is one date, so a same-day cake and a pre-order cake go through checkout separately. That matters if you are building a party table: a pre-ordered main cake for Saturday, plus a last-minute second cake the same afternoon, means two orders.

Check each cart before you pay. Each shows its own date, delivery window and fee, and the final figures there are the ones that count.

How exact is the same-day delivery time?

The tonight window is 5:30 to 10:30 PM, and the specific arrival time within it cannot be guaranteed. You receive a tracking link or a phone call before the cake arrives, and someone needs to be there to receive it. Traffic or weather can put a route a little behind, and a delay of up to 60 minutes counts as normal.

A few practical habits help on a same-day evening:

  • Tell the person receiving the cake that the window runs until 10:30 PM.
  • Choose Door-to-Door in the cart if you live in a condo and want the cake brought to your unit, because standard delivery goes to the building entrance or lobby.
  • Check the cake as soon as it arrives. Damage has to be reported within 2 hours, and approved claims receive store credit.
  • Once you get the cake, put it in the fridge within an hour, still in its box.

Same-day pickup avoids the window altogether. You choose a pickup time in the cart, and the Markham kitchen is near Steeles Avenue and Warden Avenue.

When is it worth planning ahead instead?

Whenever the date is fixed and you have more than a day or two, pre-ordering is the better route. Pre-orders open from the day after tomorrow and run up to 180 days ahead. They cover the full menu, including 0 Sugar Added and Keto versions, and pre-order prices are lower than Express prices. Daily capacity is limited, so dates that many people want can fill.

Express is there for the genuine surprise, the forgotten birthday and the plan that changed this morning. A same-day Express cake is freshly prepared to order, and for many people that is enough. When you do know the date, ordering ahead gives you the whole menu and a lower price.

If tonight is the deadline, the Express cake collection lists every design that can still make it, and the delivery page has the areas and fees for your neighbourhood.

Questions, answered.

Can I get a cake delivered tonight in Toronto?

Yes, if you order by 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, and pick a cake with Express in its name. It arrives tonight between 5:30 and 10:30 PM across Toronto and the core GTA. Your cart confirms the exact cost and same-day availability for your address when you check out.

Is there a same-day cake pickup option?

Yes. Order by 4:00 PM, Monday to Saturday, and collect from our kitchen at 505 Hood Rd, Unit 10, Markham, near Steeles Avenue and Warden Avenue. Pickup is free, and you choose your pickup time in the cart. Only Express cakes can be made for the same day.

Do you make same-day cakes on Sundays?

No. On Sundays we take pre-orders only, with no same-day or rush orders, so choose an upcoming delivery or pickup date in the cart. Sunday pickup, when it is available for your date, runs 1:00 to 2:00 PM, and core GTA delivery runs every day of the week.

How do I know which cakes can be made today?

Look for the word Express at the start of the cake name. Only Express cakes can be made same-day or next-day. Everything inside the Express collections qualifies, and cakes without Express in the name are pre-order only, booked from the day after tomorrow.

Can I add a pre-ordered cake to my same-day order?

Not in the same order. One order is one date, so a same-day cake and a pre-order cake go through checkout separately. Each order then shows its own date, delivery window and fee in the cart, and the cart is the final word on all three.

What if I need a cake even faster than tonight?

Our delivery page lists Uber Eats as the faster route, delivering in about 2 to 3 hours. It does not say which cakes qualify, so call +1 (888) 356-9099 or email Contact@ThePlaceToronto.com and ask how it works for your address and cake before you rely on it.
