Order as soon as the date and guest count are settled. The Place takes pre-orders from the day after tomorrow up to 180 days ahead, and each day takes a limited number of cakes, so popular dates can fill. The window is wide, and the rules are simple enough to fit in a few lines. If the party is today or tomorrow, the same-day and last-minute guide covers that route instead.

How far ahead can I order a birthday cake?

You can pre-order from the day after tomorrow, up to 180 days ahead. That window covers the full menu: Lightly Sweet, 0 Sugar Added and Keto (flourless) versions. You pick the date in the cart, and the cart shows the delivery windows and fees available for your address.

Here is how the two routes compare.

How far ahead should I order?

Order as soon as the date and the guest count are settled. We have no minimum beyond the day after tomorrow, but daily capacity is limited, and popular dates can fill. For Christmas, our Christmas cake guide covers the two Limited Edition cakes and how to book them. The earlier you book, the more choice you have on date, size and delivery window.

There is also a practical reason that has nothing to do with capacity. Once an order is processing, the delivery address, the cake and the recipient details cannot be changed, and the order cannot be cancelled. Booking early gives you time to double-check a postal code, a building entrance or the name on the door before that point arrives.

If the guest list is still moving, decide the size last but book the date now. Our size guide turns a guest count into a cake size, and choosing between two sizes is easier than finding a free day.

What do I get for ordering early?

You get the whole menu, a lower price and more delivery windows. Pre-order prices are lower than Express prices: book early, pay less. On a 6 inch the gap is about $5 (Tiramisu Nouveau is from $62.95 pre-ordered and from $67.95 as Express). Only pre-orders reach the cakes that have no Express version, and they include every 0 Sugar Added and Keto design.

Two other choices open up. Afternoon delivery, 1:30 to 5:00 PM, starts from next day on and is free in most areas, with +$9.95 or +$14.95 in some. And most Lightly Sweet cakes carry a "Make it eggless" tick-box for +$5. That option covers the cake layers and the cream only: decorations, cupcakes and add-ons may still contain egg, and eggless cannot be combined with the 0 Sugar Added or Keto versions. The eggless collection shows which cakes offer it.

Two designs show the range. The Unicorn has pastel tones and a charming unicorn, and it comes with an Express version if plans shrink to a few days. Black Forest has sculptural accents in dark tones and is offered in 6, 8 and 10 inch. Black Forest is pre-order only, so it is a reminder of what booking ahead unlocks. At the time of writing, the pre-order from-price for the 6 inch Unicorn is $89.95, and for the 6 inch Black Forest $79.95.

What is the latest I can still order?

For tonight, order by 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, for delivery between 5:30 and 10:30 PM. For same-day pickup in Markham, order by 4:00 PM. Both need an Express cake, and Sundays take pre-orders only. Everything after those cut-offs means tomorrow or a later date.

That is the real answer to "how late is too late": nothing is closed to you, but your choice of cake narrows as the date gets closer. Pre-order cakes start from the day after tomorrow, so a cake without Express in its name cannot arrive sooner than that.

What should I check before picking a date?

Check that your area is served on that day, that someone will be home, and that the date is not a Sunday you were counting on for a same-day order. In the core GTA, delivery runs every day. Farther routes run on set days, and that can decide your party date for you.

Area Delivery days Fee Free over Evening window
Core GTA (Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Mississauga, Oakville and more) Every day $4.95 ($10.99 under $30) $85 5:30–10:30 PM
Brampton Every day $6.95, $30 minimum $85 5:30–10:30 PM
Hamilton and Burlington Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday $12, $30 minimum $125 6:45–11:30 PM
Waterloo, Kitchener, Guelph Wednesday, Saturday $15, $30 minimum $125 6:45–11:30 PM
Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa Monday, Friday $10, $30 minimum $100 6:45–11:30 PM

These figures are a guide, before HST; your cart shows the final fee. The delivery page has the full list of areas, and entering your postal code in the cart confirms your exact fee and earliest date.

Three more checks save trouble. Someone must be there to receive the cake: you will get a tracking link or a call before arrival. Standard delivery goes to the building entrance or lobby, and Door-to-Door can be added in the cart for a unit. And one order is one date, so a second celebration on another day means a second order.

What if I have allergies or special requests?

Say so in the cart note, then phone or email to confirm. The cart note itself is a "nice-to-have, not a guarantee", so for anything that must happen, call +1 (888) 356-9099 or write to Contact@ThePlaceToronto.com with your order number. We share one kitchen that handles milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts every day, and we cannot guarantee that any cake is free of any allergen.

An early order is the easy time to have that conversation, because there is room in the calendar to confirm details without a rush. When the date is set, the full menu is open to you.

Questions, answered.

What is the earliest date I can pre-order a cake for?

The day after tomorrow. Anything sooner is a same-day or next-day order, and only cakes with Express in the name qualify for those. You choose the date in the cart, which shows the delivery windows and fees open to you for your address.

What is the furthest date I can book?

Up to 180 days ahead. Pre-orders cover the whole menu, including Lightly Sweet, 0 Sugar Added and Keto versions. Booking early also means paying the pre-order price, which is lower than the price of an Express cake, and it leaves more dates open before daily capacity fills.

Do I pay less for ordering early?

Yes. Pre-order prices are lower than Express prices, which is the idea behind booking early. The price you see on the menu is the pre-order price at the time of writing, and your cart shows the final total including delivery, so check it before you pay.

Can I change the date or address after ordering?

Not once processing has begun. Our delivery policy says we cannot change the delivery address, product content or recipient details, or cancel an order, after processing starts. Check the date, address and cake carefully before you pay, and call us first if anything is unclear. If your date might move, call +1 (888) 356-9099 before you order and ask how this applies to a booking made well ahead.

Can I order two cakes for two different days at once?

Not in one order. One order is one date, so each date needs its own checkout. The same applies to a same-day cake and a pre-order cake, which must be placed as separate orders. Each cart then shows its own delivery window and fee for that date.
