Cake Delivery in North York and Scarborough: Fees and Times

Does The Place deliver cake to North York and Scarborough?

Yes, both are in the core GTA, which The Place delivers to every day from its Markham kitchen. The same fee and the same evening window apply to both.

The core GTA list is Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, East York, Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Vaughan, Aurora, Newmarket, Mississauga and Oakville. Brampton is also delivered daily, with its own fee, and a few cities further out are served on set days. The GTA delivery guide covers all of them.

How much does delivery to North York or Scarborough cost?

Delivery is $4.95 on orders from $30 to $85, free on orders over $85, and $10.99 under $30. It is one flat fee, so an address in North York and an address in Scarborough pay the same.

All fees are before tax. They are a guide; your cart and checkout show the final fee. Pickup at 505 Hood Rd, Unit 10, Markham is always free if you would rather collect the cake yourself.

The $85 line is the number worth keeping in mind. A larger cake, or a cake plus a second item, can take an order over it. A single small item under $30 is the case where the fee is highest, so adding something is worth a look.

What time will the cake arrive?

By default the cake arrives between 5:30 and 10:30 PM. That is the evening window for the core GTA, and it is the one to plan the party around.

From the next day on, many postal codes can also choose an afternoon window, 1:30 to 5:00 PM. It is free in most areas, and some postal codes add $9.95 or $14.95. Your cart shows the one that applies to you when you pick a date.

Inside a window, no exact arrival time is guaranteed. Traffic and weather can put a route a little behind, and a delay of up to 60 minutes is within the normal range. You will get a tracking link by email, or a call before the driver arrives, so you do not need to watch the door all evening, though someone does need to be there to receive the cake.

Can I order a same-day cake in North York or Scarborough?

Yes, with an Express cake: order by 2:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, and it arrives that evening between 5:30 and 10:30 PM. There are no same-day orders on Sundays.

Only cakes with Express in the name can be made same-day or next-day, and they are listed on the same-day page. Every other cake is a pre-order, bookable from the day after tomorrow and up to 180 days ahead, at lower pre-order prices. One order covers one date, so an Express cake and a pre-order cake go in separate orders.

Each day takes a limited number of cakes, and popular dates fill, so for a weekend birthday it is worth booking ahead rather than relying on the same-day list.

What happens at an apartment or condo?

Standard delivery goes to the building entrance or lobby. If you want the driver to bring the cake up, add Door-to-Door in your cart; it is an optional paid service and your cart shows the price.

The driver makes one delivery attempt per order. If nobody is available to receive the cake and leaving it is not safe, it goes back to the kitchen, and you have 24 hours to pick it up in Markham. It is not sent out a second time. For the same reason, it helps to tell whoever is at home that a delivery is coming, and to keep a phone nearby for the tracking link or the call.

If the cake arrives damaged, tell The Place within 2 hours of delivery. Approved claims receive store credit.

Which cakes work well for delivery?

Any cake on the menu can be delivered, so the choice comes down to the occasion and the size. The table shows how two designs sit against the fee bands, using the cake price alone.

Your cart is the final word, because extras and your address can change the total.

Happy Bear Day has a tiny bear figure, pastel lettering and sky blue, and it suits a children's birthday. It is a pre-order cake: book it from the day after tomorrow. A 6 inch serves 6 to 8, and at $86.95 the cake alone clears the $85 line, so core GTA delivery is free (your cart has the final say).

Choco Vital is for a table that wants Keto (flourless) or 0 Sugar Added. It is described as restrained details sharpening deep brown into a focal point, and it has an Express version for same-day. 0 Sugar Added is a statement about sugar only; the cake still contains milk, egg and wheat. The Keto version is made without flour.
