Three moments come up again and again for babies: the gender reveal, the baby shower and the first birthday, and each one has its own kind of cake on our menu. The table below puts them side by side, with pre-order prices from the 6-inch size at the time of writing.

Prices are pre-order prices. Your cart shows the final price, and our cakes are finished with real dairy fresh cream. Serving sizes are the same across the menu: a 6-inch serves 6 to 8, an 8-inch serves 12 to 14 and a 10-inch serves 18 to 22 normal dessert slices.

How does a gender reveal cake work?

The outside of a reveal cake gives nothing away, and the colour is hidden inside. When you order, you choose Blue, Pink or Surprise, and the kitchen colours the inside to match, so nobody at the party knows until the first slice comes out.

How much of the slice carries the colour depends on timing:

• Two or more days ahead: the cake layers and the cream are both coloured, so the answer shows as soon as the knife goes in.
• Next day or Express: only the cream is coloured, and the cake layers stay as they are.

If you want the result kept secret from you as well, choose Surprise and place your order. Whoever holds the result then tells us the colour at least two days before the cake date. Mystery Bunny is the playful choice: a little bunny above pink-and-blue ombre, which makes the reveal feel like a scene. The Mystery Bunny cake has an Express version for same-day, in 6 and 8 inch only.

Which cake suits a baby shower?

A baby shower cake works best as a soft pastel design, and the shower cakes on our menu carry no colour inside. They suit a shower that is separate from the reveal, or a reveal that is happening somewhere else.

For a shower, size follows the guest list. A 6-inch serves 6 to 8 and suits a small family gathering, an 8-inch serves 12 to 14 and fills a living-room table, and a 10-inch serves 18 to 22 for a larger party. The cupcake box is the easier choice when guests will help themselves. What is a smash cake, and which size should I order?

A smash cake is a small cake set in front of the birthday child to dig into, usually for photos on a first birthday. Our version is the Smiley Smash Cake: a smile on sunshine yellow, made for joyful first-birthday pictures.

The smallest size is 6 inch, which serves 6 to 8 normal slices. A baby will only eat a little, so that cake can also feed a small family. For a bigger party, an 8-inch serves 12 to 14 and a 10-inch serves 18 to 22. If you would like a separate small cake only for the baby, the 2.75-inch mini cakes are about $17 to $24 each, though they are not a Smiley design. Of the cakes in this guide, the Smiley Smash Cake is the one that comes in all three versions. The Lightly Sweet version uses cane sugar and is lightly sweetened. The 0 Sugar Added version has no added cane sugar and still contains flour. The Keto version is flourless. At 6 inch the prices start at $50.95, $58.95 and $66.95.

How far ahead should I order a baby milestone cake?

Pre-order as soon as the date is fixed: the earliest date is the day after tomorrow and the furthest is 180 days away. We take a limited number of cakes a day, and once a date fills it closes.

Same-day and next-day orders are only possible for cakes with Express in the name, and Sunday does not take same-day orders. Pickup in Markham is free, with time slots from 2 to 6 PM Monday to Saturday and 1 to 2 PM on Sunday. Delivery times and fees are a guide, and your cart shows the final fee.

Each order has one date, and a same-day cake and a pre-order cake need separate orders. If you are planning a reveal and a first birthday for different dates, place two orders.

How does delivery and pickup work for a baby party?

Core GTA areas are served every day, and pickup in Markham is free. Delivery starts at $4.95 for orders between $30 and $85, and is free from $85. This is a guide, and your cart shows the final fee for your postal code and time window.

Evening delivery runs from 5:30 to 10:30 PM. For next-day and later orders there is also an afternoon window from 1:30 to 5:00 PM, which suits a daytime shower or a lunchtime party. It is free in most areas and adds $9.95 or $14.95 in a few. The cake goes to the lobby by default; add Door-to-Door in your cart to have it brought to the door. Someone needs to be there to sign, and a delay of up to 60 minutes is normal in traffic. If the cake arrives damaged, contact us within two hours.

What should I tell you about allergies at a baby celebration?

Tell us in the cart note and confirm with a call or email before you order. Our kitchen handles dairy, egg, wheat, soy, peanuts and tree nuts every day, so we cannot guarantee that any cake is free of any allergen.

Every cake contains dairy. Unless you choose the eggless option on a Lightly Sweet cake, it also contains egg, and the cake base is made with flour except in the flourless Keto version. The eggless option is +$5, applies to the cake and cream of the main cake only, and is not available with 0 Sugar Added or Keto. Decorations, cupcakes and add-ons may still contain egg. If the guest of honour is still trying first foods, read the ingredient list and our allergy information before you order. Take decorations such as picks, candles and ribbon off before cutting, and keep small parts away from little children.

When the cake arrives, refrigerate it in its box within an hour, do not freeze it, and serve it straight from the fridge. Keep it at room temperature for no more than two hours in total, or one hour on a hot day.
